Frequently asked questions
How are calorie and macro estimates made?
When you send a photo, voice note or text, AI models and our built-in nutrition reference identify the foods, estimate portions, and calculate calories, protein, carbs and fat for each item. They're estimates, so they can be off, especially with sauces, oils and mixed dishes. Read how estimates work.
How do I fix an estimate before logging it?
- On the meal draft, tap Edit details.
- Tell your coach what to change in plain words, for example “half a portion”, “no rice” or “add a spoon of olive oil”.
- Tap Update estimate, check the new numbers, then tap Log meal.
You can also just reply in the chat. If you don't want the draft at all, tap Cancel draft.
How do I edit or delete a meal I've already logged?
Open the meal from your Dashboard or Insights. Type a correction and save it, or tap Delete meal. Your daily totals update straight away. You can also tell your coach, for example “that lunch was actually half a sandwich”.
How do I correct or forget something my coach remembers?
On your Dashboard, find the section showing what your coach is keeping in mind. Tap That changed to correct a memory, or Forget this to remove it. You can also say it in the chat, for example “forget that I skip breakfast”.
What's shared with AI, and can I turn it off?
My Diet Bot uses OpenAI for coach replies, meal estimates, voice-note transcription and read-aloud. Only what each feature needs is sent, and only after you've given permission in the app. OpenAI doesn't train on this data, and we send requests with storage turned off. You can withdraw permission at any time in Settings. See exactly what's shared.
How does my coach work out a calorie target?
With the Mifflin–St Jeor equation, your activity level and the pace you choose, with minimum floors so targets never get too low. Targets are optional suggestions. See the full method and a worked example.
How do I change my goals, activity level or coach's tone?
Tap the Settings (gear) icon at the top right of the app. You can update your profile, activity level, coaching tone and check-in preferences there, or simply tell your coach in the chat.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, enter your email address and tap Reset password. We'll email you a link to choose a new one. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
If you signed up with Apple or Google, you don't have a My Diet Bot password. Just use the same Apple or Google button you used before.
I signed in and my journal is empty
You may have signed in with a different method than before, which creates a separate account. Sign out in Settings and sign in the way you originally did: Apple, Google or email. If you used Sign in with Apple with “Hide My Email”, your account uses a private relay address, so email or Google sign-in won't find it.
The app says it can't connect
Check that you're online, then try again. If the problem continues, email support@mydietbot.com with the time it happened and a screenshot, and we'll look into it.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and tap Delete account, then confirm. Your account and all its data are deleted immediately. Can't open the app? Email privacy@mydietbot.com from your account's email address. Full details.

Is there an Android version?
Not yet. My Diet Bot is launching on iPhone first.
